How a Dream Helped Me Cope   
                                       
                            One morning I typed this dream into my journal:  I was in Dr. Jaminson's office (my family doctor). He was examining my inner right thigh.  He said," Betty you have  shingles.  A type of viral infection which usually lasts a few weeks, but with this lotion it will be quickly gone."  He continued. "There is nothing to worry about.  You will be free of pain.
                                 
    A week later I was preparing for a trip to a spiritual seminar where I was going to be part of the program presentation. While I was taking a shower I noticed a rash on my upper thigh, which I attributed to wearing too-tight of panty hose for over sixteen hours the previous day.

     A few days later, the day before my leaving for my trip, I noticed pimples appearing in the rash.  A call to Dr. Kahn, my dermatologist, was disheartening. The receptionists replied that no appointments were available for several weeks.

    “I can’t wait; I need to see him today.  Try and squeeze me in. I cried.”  I explained the situation to her and she accommodated me, telling me it would be a lengthily wait.  This was a welcome surprise. 

     Dr. Kahn said, “You have shingles! You must have had chicken pox when you were young.”  I said yes.  The doctor continued, “It’s the same virus that causes chicken pox.  The chicken pox virus is never fully cleared from the body.  It lives in the nerves and then this virus re-activates when the body is under emotional stress or has an immune deficiency. It can be very painful and takes several weeks or longer to go away.  In the meantime don’t wear clothing that will cover that area up.”  He handed me a prescription for medication and then asked if I wanted a prescription for pain pills. 

     That last statement brought to mind the dream I had with Doctor Jamison. I knew I wasn’t going to follow his advice to keep the area uncovered.  Pantyhose were a must during the next five days.  I declined pain pills. 

    The dream of Dr. Jamison’s, was a contradiction of the dermatologist’s prediction of a painful long siege with the shingles. The dream gave me hope that helped me successfully cope with the situation, keeping my emotions from getting out of control.

     I left for my trip as planned, and released my problem to Divine Spirit. When I arrived back home and began unpacking I noticed the medication for the shingles was on the shelf.   I completely forget to take it with me, therefore it was never used.   I hurriedly took off my stockings to see the condition my neglect had caused my inner thigh.  

     As I looked at the area, I could faintly see where shingles might have been but were no longer visible.  In fact that whole five days, each time I took a shower, I washed that area without thinking about what I’d been told to do— to keep it uncovered (not stockings) and  to apply medication three times a day.  None of the advice had I followed.
 
     My trust in the dream and in Divine Spirit freed me of concern, allowing a healing to take place, just as the dream predicted. With this dream I had a glimpse into the future and was able to redirect the supposed outcome by surrendering the situation to Divine Spirit.  

    The prophetic dream, How a Dream Helped Me Cope, shows how prophecy can be shown in a dream about something happening in the very near future.  A prophetic dream can also show the dreamer a distant future several years from now.

    It’s surprising when you come to realize that some dreams you’ve had are actually prophetic revelations that you’re not aware of until the event happens.   Other times you may be given a prophetic dream that shows you what may happen in the future.  And then a dream of great magnitude, something that you truly want to see happen, is shown to you, like buying a new car, become a parent, or moving in a new house.  When this type of dream is given, it encourages the dreamer to work toward that prophecy, in hopes it will become an actuality.

                                                   Past Lives
                                          
  At one time, I was having a recurring situation in my life.  I  wanted to 
know the past-life responsible for this circumstance.  I had  a dream where I was handed a large silver serving platter with twelve heads, male and female laid out neatly in a circle.  The details ot their faces were all crystal clear, in the variety of eye, hair color and skin tones. They could blink their eyes and move slightly.  The women's and men's hair styles were of different periods in history. Some men had beards of diffenter lengths.

    One head was weraring a ruffled collor from the Elizabthain era; others were a knight in armor, an Indian chief in full headdress, a women with flowers in her hair, a man wearing a French beret, a lady
wearing a tiara, and so on.  As I took time to examine each, I saw the were different, yet they were all the same—they were all ME!

   This dream bore witness to the fact that a common thread of karma ran through many lifetimes.  I awoke knowing those twelve lifetimes had a direct bearing on the present situation I was dealing with. I was responsible for setting into motion circumstances that brought an effect into many lifetimes—including the present one.  
    
    I was given the insight served on a silver platter, telling me these were the key (main course) incarnated personalities responsible. I went about finding ways to work out this accumulated karma.   I am greateful that, often, some of my karma can be worked out in the dream state. This indeed is a great weight lifted from my shoulders.  I am now aware that many of my liftetimes of karmic debts can be worked off and learned from in the dream state.  This creats less wear and tear on the physical, mental and emotional bodies I currently occupy in this present incarnation.  Dreams!                                  Soul Exploring Experiences in the News      
                                                            
 In 1971, I realized that many of my dreams were more than dream travel I was 
 exploring other parts of the earth world in Soul body.  I have mentioned in a 
 a previous chapter I labeled these trips Soul Exploring. From October to December
 of 1971, Iwas able to correlate my  Soul Exploring experiences with  the news of the day. 

    Once I had a dream where I was in a room and someone came rushing in and very excited they said, "Seaboard blocked out."  That woke me out of a sound sleep. I looked at the clock.  It was 2:45 in the morning.  I went back to sleep;   

     When I awoke I put on the radio, as I usually do.  I was washing breakfast dishes when the nine o’clock news came on. The newscaster started his broadcast with “Seaboard blocked out.”  
 
    This was quite a shocking moment, to hear someone repeat the exact words I had heard in my dream.  When the morning newspaper arrived, once again I was frozen in place as I read   the front-page headlines, on Friday October 1, 1971—Nixon Move Is Awaited in Port Tie-up. The details were about the New York International Longshoremen Association considering a strike, which could close all the nation’s seaports.
 
    The connecting of my dream and the actual event was made clear in the following sentence: At 2:45 a.m., the ILA president announced the talks had stopped and his union was considering itself “locked out” of the job. I was awakened  from a sound sleep at the exact time the decision was made to stop the negotiation talks—I was in that meeting room, present in Soul body to hear the announcement. I knew I was Soul Exploring!
